Hi Guys!

I'm emailing you with an urgent request…please call and/or email the legislators listed below TODAY asap.

Also, please distribute this email to your various email lists and pass this on to anyone who may be interested in helping us...

Sen. Don Gaetz
(850) 487-5009

Sen. Lizbeth Benaquisto
(850) 487-5356

Sen. Ellyn Bogdanoff
(850) 487-5100

Sen. Tony Hill
(850) 487-5024

Sen. Jack Latvala
(850) 487-5075

Sen. Gwen Margolis
(850) 487-5121

Sen. Chris Smith
(850) 487-5112

Rep. Stephen Precourt
(850) 488-0256

Rep. Mack Bernard
(850) 488-8632

Rep. Chris Dorworth
(850) 488-5843

Rep. Doug Holder
(850) 488-1171

Rep. Scott Randolph
(850) 488-0660

Rep. Lake Ray
(850) 488-4388

Let these legislators know that you work in location-based film and television production and tell them what the industry means to you personally. Then ask them for their support on two items:

1. A 25% cap on monies available to ALL television production (high-impact or not) has been proposed by the House. Instituting this cap will effectively kill our ability to attract and sustain television production in the state of Florida - which is the lynchpin to rebuilding and growing location-based film and television production throughout our state.

Ask for the legislator's help in removing this cap - tell them that industry does not support this cap - it is damaging and has untold unintended consequences.

2. Ask the legislators to make sure that the cap on the amount of tax credits any one production can receive remains steadfast at 30%.

We are having great success in attracting projects of all shapes and sizes to the state without "giving away the farm". Industry would like to see less money go to more projects - effectively creating more jobs and spending more money throughout the state - rather than more money to fewer projects.

Lastly, let them know that the incentive as it exists is working exactly as we had hoped…jobs are being created, there is renewed interest in infrastructure development and "new" money is being spent in our local communities throughout the state…then don't forget to thank them for their continued support!

Any help and/or assistance you can give us would be greatly appreciated.

Best wishes,
Leah Sokolowsky

Legislative Bill HB 5005 is on its way to the full state House of Representatives. HB 5005 would deregulate talent agencies as well as several other occupations:

HB 5005: Deregulation of Professions and Occupations: Deletes provisions establishing Florida Board of Auctioneers & Motor Vehicle Repair Advisory Council, deletes provisions for regulation of yacht & ship brokers, auctioneers, talent agencies, athlete agents, persons practicing hair braiding, hair wrapping, or body wrapping, interior designers, professional fundraising consultants & solicitors, water vending machines & operators, health studios, ballroom dance studios, commercial telephone sellers & salespersons, movers & moving brokers, certain outdoor theaters, certain business opportunities, motor vehicle repair shops, sellers of travel, contracts with sales representatives involving commissions, & television picture tubes; revises name & membership of Board of Architecture; revises license classifications of public lodging establishments.

Stay tuned for updates and how this will impact the Florida industry.

Hosting Workshop with Teleprompter - $200
Saturday - April 16, 2011
10am to 6pm
Limited to 12 participants

Hosting has its own set of skills. The ability to read a teleprompter, yet look conversational. Hosts also need to be able to improv and "vamp" to fill space. Often times, hosts are reading the teleprompter AND using an ear monitor to get stage direction - talking, listening AND reading - while making it all look seamless.

In this workshop, you will partner up and work on interview skills. You will work on solo hosting and we'll even throw in some improv to see how you work under pressure. It's all about finding your niche and allowing your opinion and your personality to emerge.

This is a great opportunity to explore hosting as an option in your career. If you are already hosting, here is your chance to get some teleprompter time with feedback. Join us!

Los Angeles Acting Coach, Kimberly Jentzen in Florida

Weekend Intensive - The Jentzen Technique: Acting with Impact - $375
Friday - April 8, 2011, 7pm to 11pm
Saturday & Sunday - April 9-10, 2011, Noon to 11pm
(limited to 18 actors)

The Jentzen Technique is NOT method . She has a really brilliant take on how important it is to find tools that will consistently help you draw out the emotions you need once those personal triggers from your real life have dried up and healed.

She deals with "playing the love", conquering fear and enabling your confidence. Her tools are incredible for helping you consistently create the characters you need. Once you get past the basic questions that are found in most intensive training, "Who am I", "Where am I", "Who am I talking to", "What am I fighting for" - you need tools to help you build out those concepts. The Jentzen Technique prepares you.
