COCA-COLA EURASIA AND AFRICA GROUP - GROUP PRESIDENTS ENVIRONMENTAL AWARDS
In 2008, Coca-Cola Eurasia and Africa Group President Ahmet Bozer, announced an award scheme to recognize the best environmental practices of our bottling partners

The three focus areas where identified as water resource management, sustainable packaging and energy efficiency.

122 factories in 34 countries were assessed against key performance indicators, including:

Water Use Ratio,
Energy Consumption,
Solid Waste Generation and
Percent Solid Waste Recovered or Recycled.

We are proud to observe a remarkable improvement in the environmental performances of our bottling plants:

19 % reduction in water use over the last 5 years,
16 % improvement in energy efficiency since 2004,
And we are on track to achieve our target of waste water management systems in every factory by 2011.

Among the 122 production factories that were assessed, the 2009 Group Presidents Environmental Awards go to:

1-Izmir plant in Turkey, operated by Coca-Cola Icecek, for Best performer bottling plant, 2009:

2-Krasnoyarsk plant in the Russian Federation, operated by Coca-Cola Hellenic, for Most improved bottling plant, 2009:

Doing business in each and every one of the communities in this region, The Coca-Cola System has made a series of robust commitments to support environmental and social sustainability.

REDUCE
Our goal is to safely return to communities and nature an amount of water equivalent to what we use in all of our beverages and their production.

We reduced the water we use by 19 % over the last 5 years.

RECYCLE
Our goal is to ensure that the water we use in our manufacturing processes will be returned to the environment at a quality that supports aquatic life

By 2011, we will have waste water treatment facilities in all 271 factories across the Eurasia and Africa Group.

REPLENISH
Our goal is to support healthy watersheds and sustainable community water programs to balance the water used in our finished beverages

We helped build over 500 rain water harvesting structures in India,
implemented more than 20 major projects in partnership with UNDP and WWF,
and made commitment to provide access to safe drinking water for 2 million Africans.

REDUCE
Our goal is to support a future in which our packaging is no longer seen as waste, but as a valuable resource.

We've significantly reduced the materials used to make our packages, without sacrificing quality.

RECOVER & REUSE
Our goal is to continually increase the number of bottles, cans and package materials that are collected and recycled
